October is About Women's Health!

Welcome, October!
October welcomes two important topics for women: Breast Cancer Awareness and Menopause Awareness. To open the dialogue, highlighting these aspects of women's health, I'd like to normalize pelvic floor changes.
Worried about the next sneeze or laugh? So many women feel that way, and not because we're doing anything wrong, but because most of us were never taught how central the pelvic floor is to our sense of strength, ease, and everyday confidence. Midlife brings shifts that can make this area feel unfamiliar, but there are gentle, supportive ways to reconnect with it and feel more at home in your body again.
One of those ways is Pilates, a practice to help you rebuild that inner steadiness. Its slow, intentional movements teach the deep core and pelvic floor to work together, giving you the kind of quiet strength that shows up in all the small moments like lifting, moving, laughing, living.
And even gentler, yoga and meditation introduce the softer and subtler side of healing. By uniting mind and body, you can listen to spaces of tension you didn’t even know you were holding, breathe into places you’ve ignored, and form a kinder, more trusting relationship with your pelvic bowl.
Women's Health is about all parts of our bodies. And through the rest of the month, I'll be featuring small reflections about midlife, breast awareness, menopause and how these impact our bodies. Coming up next week, if you're local to Newtown, CT I'm co-leading a women's Pelvic Health Workshop to support you welcoming this part of you - offering strength where you need it, softness where you’ve been gripping, and building confidence that lets you move through life without bracing for the next sneeze! You are not alone!
