Service Description

An emerging field of wellness care is Yoga Therapy, an approach that incorporates the many practices of yoga, including breath and body awareness, mindful movement, balancing energy, meditation and integration, to promote whole wellbeing. Therapeutic yoga sessions are generally 60-75 minutes, and clients experience the most impactful results when meeting over at least 4-6 sessions. Prior to your session, Jen will meet with you to understand your wellness vision and establish your baseline coming into therapeutic yoga. Together, you will develop objectives and talk through practices that support your overall wellness goals across physical, energetic, mental, emotional and spiritual dimensions. Using yoga therapeutically is a complement to Western medicine, supporting mind-body-spirit integration and harmony. In a therapeutic yoga session, you can expect a variety of practices, meeting you where you are in the moment. Practices range from guided reflection, development of awareness of body, breath, mind and emotions, breathing practices to balance your nervous system, gentle yoga poses aligned with your wellness goals, opportunity for meditation and relaxation, and space for self-reflection and integration. Unlike a traditional Western yoga class that is primarily focused on asana movements, a therapeutic yoga approach embraces the many other components of Yoga to promote healing across mind-body-spirit, as empowered by you, the client. Jen teaches from a body-awareness and mindful-movement focus, based on the Hatha-style, and additionally teaches Restorative and Yin styles. She is certified as a 200-hour registered yoga teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance and is currently completing her 800-hour certification for yoga therapy (C-IAYT) with Kripalu School of Integrative Yoga Therapy. For any questions, please email Jen at jrizza@hdrestorativewellness.com. When you are requesting a session, please note that if you are booking a First Session, this will be a 90 minute session to establish your goals and expectations. Follow up sessions are booked for up to 75 minutes and will range from 60-75 minutes. Sessions may be booked in-person at Newtown Wellness Collective in Sandy Hook, CT, or may be held virtually over Zoom. To cancel or reschedule, please contact us at least 24 hours prior to your appointment time. Cancelations under 24 hours may be subject to a non-refundable cancelation fee of the full price of your session.
